A mother and a daughter both
Kelly Corrigan's book The Middle Place is wonderful. I found myself laughing and crying, sometimes within pages of each other. Corrigan says the middle place is that time in life when you are both a parent and a child. There is a short passage that I really loved, about how all the paperwork (marriage license, mortgage statement, tax forms, etc) indicates that you are a successful adult but still there are times that you just want to run home to daddy/mommy.
Part of this memior deals with Corrigan's breast cancer fight and her father's simultaneous fight against bladder cancer. The rest of the book is full of stories about life as "George Corrigan's daughter" and the way that made her feel. This is one of those books that defies description. All I can really say is "go out and read it!"

Does a mother to cats count? :D
Sounds like an inspiring memoir!
I cant help remembering Middle Earth when i read Middle Place. lol.. But thats because i totally adore the Lord of the Rings. The movies are also pretty commendable. But the movie I'm awaiting eagerly is the latest Narnia one- Prince Caspian. Its hitting the theatres this May 16th and by the looks of the trailers it promises to be outstanding! Watch the trailers here- http://www.disney.in/narnia
It'll enthrall you for sure!
But on a more serious note, I appreciate this book- A mother and daughter both" because I can empathise with the theme of the bond that a daughter and father share. I am personally very close to my father and for this reason I will definitely read this book!
Kristin,
Great to see some posts! This book sounds interesting. I can tell you that "The Middle Place" doesn't last long enough. I feel too young to no longer be a daughter, but I lost that standing 11 years ago!! Amazing!
I'm glad you're still reading!
Love you! :-)
